cold bath houses

kallbadhuset

Kallbadhusets are a beloved Swedish tradition—open-air hot/cold bathhouses set along the sea. These structures offer cold-water access, saunas, showers, and amenities like lockers and a café. Whether historic or modern, they are thoughtfully designed extensions of the coastline, inviting people to slow down, gather, and reconnect with nature. They’re not about luxury; they’re about a lifestyle—community, well-being, health and the outdoors, thoughtfully melding both architecture and nature.

Solig Dag draws inspiration from these structures, encouraged by the sauna's popping up around town, and hopeful that a larger scale kallbadhus will one day find it's way along our shores. In the meanwhile, the focus is on making the health benefits of hot/cold experiences accessible to anyone interested. The form of this experience is adaptable and shaped by the surrounding environment, and the personal goals of those using it.

Solig Dag's role involves consultation, design, product selection, permitting, and support throughout the construction process.

Cold bathing and saunaing have been shown to offer many health benefits by temporarily altering blood circulation. These benefits include improved memory, reduced tension, increased energy, a healthier heart, and a stronger immune system. Solig Dag aims to bring the rejuvenating experience of the Kallbadhuset right to your doorstep, making this time-honored tradition accessible for all.
