west seattle addition

This West Seattle Craftsman sits on a double lot surrounded by extensive gardens. As their family evolved, the owners sought additional living space while remaining committed to the character and scale of the historic home they cherished.

The proposed design focused on maximizing the connection between house and garden, with expansive windows overlooking the landscape, washing the interior space with natural light. While an earlier concept explored a two-story addition, the project ultimately evolved into a more modest single-story solution that better aligned with the owners' goals and preserved the home's original presence.

Careful attention was given to integrating the new work with the old—taking cues from the existing architecture, reusing salvaged materials, and incorporating a historic window that had been saved from an earlier renovation. The result is an addition that honors the home's history while creating space for the family's next chapter.

This project was completed while working with Alexandra Immel Residential Design.
